apesar de que, embora

Depois de although usamos um sujeito mais verbo:

  1. Although it rained a lot, we enjoyed our holiday. (Embora tenha chovido muito, nós aproveitamos nosso feriado)
  2. She walked home by herself, although she knew it was dangerous.

Although he’s got a good job now, he still complains

 

In spite of, Despite

apesar de algo

 

 Depois de in spite of ou despite (apesar de), usamos um substantivo, um pronome (this/that/what etc.) ou a forma do gerúndio –ing ou adjetivos possessivos ( his, her, my, etc..)

  1. In spite of a bad storm, the plane landed safely.
  2. In spite of feeling tired, we decided to go out.
  3. A sweet smile in spite of all her problems
  4. In spite of the rain, we enjoyed our holiday. (Apesar da chuva, aproveitamos nosso feriado.)
  5. I didn’t get the job in spite of havingall the necessary qualifications. (Não consegui o emprego apesar de ter todas as qualificações necessárias.)

 

  1. She wasn’t well, but in spite of this, she went to work. (Ela não estava bem, mas apesar disso ela foi trabalhar.)
  1. In spite of what I said yesterday, I still love you. (Apesar do que eu te disse ontem, eu ainda te amo.)

 

 

Às vezes usa-se though em vez de although:

embora, ainda que, mas, mesmo assim

Though she’s quite small, she is very strong.

Nina didn’t phone, even though she said she would.

They’re coming next week, though I don’t know when

 

OK, I’ll come. I’m not staying late, though. mesmo assim.

 

However:

Entretanto: (De qualquer maneira, de qualquer modo)

This is one solution to the problem. However, there are others.

however cold, difficult, slowly, etc.

Used to say that it does not make any difference how cold, difficult, slowly, etc.

Por mais frio, difícil, devagar, etc.
